Couldn’t We Use Some Stability?
In uncertain times we need the assurance that God is in control. The financial chaos and political dilemmas we face can create anxiety and fear. In the face of this challenge, God wants us to know we can turn to Him for help and peace. Fear cannot exhaust God’s grace. Think He’s forgotten you or given up on you? No! He made a promise with God “There is no variation or shadow due to change” James 1:17 ESV.
What God promises He makes come true. He is “the same yesterday, today, and forever” Hebrews 13:8. Nothing takes God by surprise. Psalm 33:11 says “The plans of the Lord stand firm forever” (NIV). With change comes fear, insecurity, sorrow, and stress. So what will you do? Hibernate? Hold back? Be debilitated by fear? A better idea is to set your bearings on the only one in the universe—God! When life changes and becomes uncertain, He never does.
Not only does He not change, He invites us to give our fear and anxiety to Him “Casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you” I Peter 5:7 NASB. The Lord invites you to cast these legitimate concerns of life upon Him because He cares. The Greek New Testament actually reads “because it is a care to Him.”
Financial upheaval? Recession? Political uncertainty? The daily struggles of life? Cast these on the Lord. He promised He would “never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you” Hebrews 13:6 NASB.
Not only will He not “desert” us but He promises us His peace, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful” John 14:27 NASB.
God knows our limitations. He’s well aware of our weaknesses. He is mindful of our fear and anxiety; and He offers us His peace. What a promise! What an awesome God! What hope!
