Anxiety

Anxiety is a normal reaction to stress, but it can become an unbearable disorder when it disrupts day to day activities. Children express mainly outward, physical symptoms of an anxiety disorder such as headaches, extreme fear, stomach aches, and bad dreams. Adults tend to internalize their anxiety, which can result in anxiety attacks. Anxiety can be manifested in a number of ways, such as post-traumatic stress disorder, panic disorder, phobias, obsessive compulsive disorder, social anxiety disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder.

Whatever the age or type, anxiety can be debilitating and therapy can help. All of our therapists are trained in anxiety treatment and use techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, biofeedback (HeartMath technology), stress management, and relaxation. Sand therapy is used specifically with children.
